Taking payment and running a table tab
There are two ways for a table to finish: paying there and then from the phone, or running a tab and paying at the end. Brío supports both, and what matters is that they never mix.
Paying from the phone
The customer scans, orders and pays. That order is settled before it reaches the kitchen and does not enter the table's tab: it is a sale closed in its own right.
Leaving it on the tab
The customer orders from the phone and chooses to have it added to the tab. The lines join that table's open tab, just as if a waiter had taken them, and are charged at the end on the terminal.
Why the waiter sees both figures
On the floor plan, each table shows what is left to charge and what has already been paid from a phone. That is the information that prevents the most expensive mistake of the service: charging twice for a round the customer already paid with their phone.
Who issues the receipt
The terminal issues the fiscal sale, with its series and its gapless numbering. An open table tab is not a sale yet: it is what has been consumed so far. That is why paying from a phone and closing the tab are separate operations, each recorded in its own place.
Calling the waiter
From the menu, a table can ask for attention or for the bill without raising a hand. The alert reaches the terminal with the room and the table number. It earns its keep on terraces, where there is no eye contact with the bar.
